Runners, Walkers and Volunteers are welcome to the Prince George's County Victims of Crime Fund Run/Walk on Saturday October 15, 2005 at 9am at Watkins Park, Upper Marlboro, MD.
This is a 5K Run or 1-mile walk. Check-in after 7:45am; warm-up starts at 8:30am; the race starts at 9:00am.
This year's race is dedicated to Sgt. Steve Gaughan, PGPD #1734, who was murdered in the line of duty on June 21, 2005.
A tribute to Homicide and Motor vehicular Manslaughter Survivors: Survivors who wish to walk or run in honor of their loved one may pickup "In Memory of " bibs at the registration desk. A special entry fee price of $15.00 will be offered to survivors. Crime victim brochures, referrals, services and compensation information will be available.
As with last year's race, a group will run in honor of the fallen police officers, who were killed In Prince George's County.
The race offers $75 for the first male and female finisher; $50 for second; and $25 for third, plus awards for age groups and teams.
Entry Fee is $20.00 in advance, or $25.00 on race day and includes a T-shirt for the 1st 300 entrants and a fantastic after race party with delicious food, random prizes and awards.
Each entrant is eligible for over $1,000.00 in random prizes from local sponsors.
Course: Flat and scenic.
Annapolis Striders provides the timing.
Proceeds from the Run/Walk provide an emergency funding source for crime victims.
