Prince George’s County Memory Page

Always Loved, Always Remembered

PURPOSE:

The Crime Victims’ Fund of Prince George’s County is an emergency funding source for qualified crime victims, who have no other means to replace what victimization has cost them. The Victims Fund Run/Walk at Watkins Regional Park, hosted by Maryland Crime Victims’ Resource Center, Inc. (MCVRC) and the Prince George’s County State’s Attorney’s Office, is a non-profit event to maintain the fund.  Each year survivors of homicide walk or run in remembrance of their loved ones. Many of their names are listed here.  They will be “always loved, always remembered”.

This Memory Webpage is dedicated to our survivors.  It is created in memory of their loved ones, who lost their lives to violence in Prince George’s County. We are sons, daughters, parents, brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, grandparents, cousins, spouses, and friends of the victims.

In loving memory:

Alexander Collins Barnett

Date of Death: January 4, 2005

Age at Death: 17

God on his throne in heaven

looked round at his flowers so fair

and then sought a blossom on earth

to add to those He had there.

To be part of such heavenly company,

The bloom must be pure and sweet,

And the little bud that was chosen

Was the child who played at our feet.

Sorrow is great at the loss of our child,

At parting at one we love.

But the parting was made that our child might go

to brighten the heavens above.

Reginald S. Simmons

Date of Death: August 5, 2003

Age at Death: 25

Just a few lines from my heart about my son Reginald S. Simmons.

He brought me joy and love from the beginning.  He made me a stronger young black mother very quickly.  He brought me laughs and some tears, but I’d do it all over again if I could have you once again.  You were loving, caring, and polite, full of concern for others.  Best of all, you loved the Lord and told me to get closer to the Lord just before you left us.  You were having your calling to join the Lord.  I saw a difference but I had no idea your end was close.  You opened my eyes and heart, and I will always love and thank you for those words.  I really miss you and it’s very hard to accept.
